Who Can Apply

  1. Companies: Any registered company, including start-ups and established firms, can apply to become a PM-WANI App Provider.
  2. Proprietorships and Societies: Individual proprietorships are eligible to provide app services under the PM-WANI framework.
  3. Compliance with Regulations: Applicants must comply with the technical specifications and regulatory requirements set by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to ensure service quality and security.

The Wi-Fi provider must be certified with regulatory and security rules for payment transactions, auditing, and the handling of any sensitive payment information. This certification ensures compliance with established standards to protect user data during payment processes.

Documents Required

1. Company Registration Certificate: Proof of legal entity registration, such as a certificate of incorporation or partnership deed.
2. PAN Card: Permanent Account Number (PAN) of the company or individual applying.
3. KYC Documents: Know Your Customer (KYC) documentation for the entity and key personnel, including identity and address proof.

Application Process

Step 1 Firstly, APP Provider needs to register at Saral Sanchar portal (https://saralsanchar.gov.in).

Step 2 After successful registration at Saral Sanchar, the APP Provider needs to sign-up with the Central Registry(https://pmwani.gov.in).

Step 3 After signing up with the Central Registry, they need to deploy the APP Provider software on the cloud infrastructure.

Step 4 While deploying the software on the cloud infrastructure, the APP Provider needs to arrange the cloud infrastructure, SSL certificate and payment gateway account for collecting the revenue.

Step 5 After the APP Provider software deployment, the APP Provider applies for provisional certification at the Central Registry.

Step 6 After the provisional certification is provided by the Central Registry, then the APP Provider has to add the security certificate and Authentication URL in the Central Registry.

Step 7 After the configuration at the Central Registry, the APP Provider will be ready to offer the services as per the PMWANI framework. Meanwhile, the APP Provider will also have to visit C-DOT for software certification.

Step 8 The Central Registry certification lab in-charge will communicate with the APP Provider regarding the prerequisites and time-slot assigned for certification.
